WELCOME TO YOUR REIKI JOURNEY

Dear Fellow Traveler,

Welcome to Your Reiki Journey: healing #ruhisigi #soullight

course notes are more than just a transfer of technical information; they are a guide for the journey into the depths of your soul and the ancient light within you. Reiki is more than a healing that flows through our hands; it is a way of life, a path of liberation and love. Every piece of knowledge you learn throughout this training will bring you one step closer to your own truth. Remember, healing always begins first in your heart. May your light be abundant and your path be clear.

Reiki: Cosmic Life Force Energy

The word Reiki means “Transcendental spirit energy,” that is, cosmic life energy in Japanese. It is a path of light that leads everyone from seven to seventy to physical and mental health. It is a practice that affects every being carrying the spirit of existence within it, through Divine love, without discrimination, but in a way suitable for the limits of evolution. It regulates and maintains the body-spirit balance and at the same time increases the life energy capacity. Thus, existing ailments will be eliminated and protection from potential diseases will be provided.

The art of healing with hands is very ancient. Humans have been doing this since the beginning of time. Placing your hands on a person who is sick or injured is a natural instinct. Mothers are an example of this; when a child is hurt, mothers place their hands on the injured area. Human touch conveys healing care and love. This energy is known by many names: it is known as Chi in China, Prana in India, Ruach by the Hebrews, and Reiki by the Japanese.

Based on the healing miracles attributed to some prophets and the fact that Dr. Mikao Usui, who enabled this method to be transmitted to the present day was a Christian, it is absolutely incorrect to associate Reiki with a religion. Reiki is not a religion or a sect; however, it is in harmony with all religions. Regardless of religion, race, nationality, gender, or age, everyone can benefit from the healing power of Reiki and everyone can become a Reiki practitioner.

Humanity consists of two dimensions: energy and physical dimensions. Everything occurs in the energy dimension first and then passes to the physical dimension. Reiki is a special type of life energy. It creates a fundamental balance in the person by changing their consciousness and outlook on life. Thus, it enables them to maintain their life in balance and health.

Reiki, which means “Universal Life Force Energy,” is the name given to the energy healing method called Raku-Keiused by Tibetan Lamas thousands of years ago. Also expressed as “Life Force under the Guidance of Spiritual Wisdom,” Reiki consists of two semantic components: “Rei” means having God-consciousness, being knowledgeable, wise, and possessing the power of love in creation; “Ki” means energy.

Reiki is the transfer of this energy to oneself or others by a person possessing this energy by placing their hands on the body. This person must be a Reiki Master. When any problem occurs in the human body, it is actually a disturbance of the energy system and a disruption of its balance. From headaches and psychological problems to functional disorders in any organ, Reiki enters the energy system as pure energy in cases where energy confusion is experienced.

We said that humans consist of both a physical body and an energy body. The equivalent of the vascular and nervous system in the physical body is the meridian system in the energy body. Meridians are the channels through which energy flows. The important energy centers in the body are called “Chakras.” When we transfer energy by placing our hands on the points called “Chakras,” we eliminate the energy confusion and ensure balance.

Reiki is one of the well-known forms of healing through the direct application of this energy. Mystics in all cultures mentioned that the physical universe is made of something simpler underlying it; modern physics has also come to understand that the Universe is made of energy, and this energy can be influenced by thought. Just as modern physics says this energy can be influenced by thought, mystics say this underlying form is influenced by thought. They go further and claim that we create our own reality through our thinking and the thoughts we share every day.

This energy is a natural energy used by Reiki practitioners. A Reiki practitioner accesses this energy more strongly because the attunements they receive clear the blocks in the energy channels of the body. Attunements also increase the healer’s own life energies and connect the person to the source of Reiki. This source can be named in any way the healer wishes: Goddess energy, God, the First Source, etc. Reiki is not associated with any religion, so you can name the source as you wish.

To practice Reiki, the practitioner places their hands on the person to be healed with the intention for healing to occur, and the energy begins to flow. Reiki energy is intelligent because the Universe is a very intelligent place. The energy knows where to go and what to do; it goes there and is guided by higher intelligence. The energy guides its own flow. Exactly the amount of energy required by the patient is drawn from the practitioner. All this happens without the direct conscious intervention of the healer. The healer’s job is to get out of the way, keep the healing space open, and observe/listen for signs of what to do next.

It is believed that phenomena such as illness have important meanings in a person’s spiritual growth—for example, a message to wake up. Energy healing alone can eliminate a disorder of the mind or body, but unless you receive the message of the illness and raise your vibration as a result, there is no real healing. If the message is not received, you will simply see yourself developing another illness. Reiki healing brings harmony to your energy and creates changes in your consciousness or vibration, bringing true fundamental healing of the mind and body.

It is seen that Mikao Usui was aware of modern science’s conclusion that everything in the universe is made of vibration. He named the vibrations of the highest dimensions “Reiki.” In his view, Reiki is conscious energy emitted by beings in higher dimensions. The energy has its own consciousness and intelligence and exhibits the characteristics of love, harmony, and healing. Its true nature is pure light.

REIKI enters through the seventh chakra in a spiral shape and flows through the hands. The essence of the matter is actually that as humans progress in their evolution, they try to move through life by excluding themselves from this love and acting with their ego (by closing their chakras). For this reason, there is no human who does not need Reiki or who does not take pleasure from the warmth of this deep love. Furthermore, since the transmission of this energy by the chakra system in people opened as Reiki channels will be hundreds of times above normal capacity, the intensity of this warm healing energy is unique.

Reiki is not a temporary treatment method obtained through manipulations; it is pure love, full and independent of political, philosophical, or religious views. It is a flow of life that we will feel in our hands and throughout our body: feel the silence, heal yourself, and your surroundings…

With Reiki, you can only do good. Reiki is a heroic path, a research expedition. The aim of Reiki Ryoho is to realize the purpose of life, which is to realize our Divine Purpose. Ultimately, this purpose is to discover that we are the True Self and to live as the True Self. When we realize our true spiritual nature, our lives are transformed, and we begin to practice love and harmony in all areas of our lives. We begin to release limiting thought patterns and negative energies and focus our attention on being more compassionate. We also release the desires of our lower ego and work toward establishing harmony, peace, and happiness for all beings.

Mikao Usui’s Understanding of Reiki

Sensei Usui conceptualizes Reiki as follows: Everything in the universe contains Reiki (possesses Reiki). He says, “The magnificent Reiki that fills the universe also exists within the human body.” As one grows more spiritually, this internal Reiki becomes stronger.

Reiki Ryoho is a unique healing method using Reiki based on the Reino in the universe. Reiki-ho is a technique for using conscious energy through Reino (mysterious and sublime work). Reiki Ryoho is as much a spiritual healing technique as it is an energy healing technique; spiritual and energy healing are integrated within Reiki Ryoho.

Any part of the healer’s body can emit Ki and light. The eyes, mouth, and hands emit the most Ki and light. Sensei Usui explained that the Ki and light radiating from a healer’s entire body can bring healing. Reiki makes people strong and healthy, and enhances healthy thoughts and joy in life. First, heal your heart, and then make your entire body healthy. While healing others, live a life full of peace and joy in the necessity of increasing your own and others’ happiness. Make sure you keep your mind and body healthy.

Reiki Symbols

There are no symbols in 1st-degree Reiki, and they are not required to be given during a Reiki session. However, the symbols given in the 2nd degree and beyond, along with the initiations that activate them, add power and versatility to the Reiki healing system. Reiki symbols are sacred. Keeping them secret is part of the Reiki tradition. They only reveal themselves to those who have received 2nd-degree or higher Reiki initiations.

Secrecy can be handled in two ways. By keeping these symbols secret, you show your personal respect for them. Other authors revealing them does not diminish your personal respect for the symbols; as long as you keep them secret, you demonstrate your respect. The second reason is that since the power of the symbols comes from initiation, showing them to someone who has not been initiated does not help them and will lead to confusion.

Many Usui Reiki symbols are composed of Japanese Kanji characters that can be found in any Japanese dictionary. For example, the Distance Healing and Master Symbols are entirely composed of Japanese characters in both name and drawing style. However, the origins of the first two Reiki symbols are more complex. While the names of the Power and Transformation symbols are Japanese, the symbols themselves can be derived from Shamanic sources or a combination of Sanskrit and Kanji forms.

It has been proven many times that symbols become empowered and work for their purpose only after initiation. Healers with psychic abilities who can see Reiki energy have emphasized that they can see Reiki energy much more clearly after initiation. Reiki symbols are transcendental. Like many symbols, they do not only affect the subconscious mind but are also directly connected to Divine Consciousness. When a Reiki symbol is used by someone who has received 2nd-degree Reiki, Rei or Divine Consciousness responds by changing the direction of Reiki energy functions. This process occurs based on a sacred or divine agreement between the person who received 2nd-degree Reiki and the Divine. The person does not need to enter a special state to activate the symbols; they move into action automatically every time they are used.

Reiki symbols are like keys that open the doors of higher-level consciousness or awareness. You can also think of them as buttons that you can press to automatically obtain specific results. Of course, the symbols must be used correctly to activate them. However, this should not mean that there is only one correct way for everyone to draw the symbols. There will be differences among the teachers who draw them. Even Mrs. Takata did not draw the symbols in the same way every time. Various nuances are observed in these symbols even among the 22 Masters she trained. Based on the vibrations coming from each student, she received guidance to make minor changes in the symbols.

When a Reiki master shows the Reiki symbols to a student and gives initiation for them, a bond is established between the image shown to the student and the metaphysical energies represented by the symbols. This develops based on the brain’s stimulus/response mechanism. When a stimulus is constantly stimulated in connection with a specific experience, a relationship develops between it and the person’s reaction to it. This can be compared to Pavlov’s well-known experiment. Every time he fed the dog, a bell would ring, and he repeated this constantly. Later, simply ringing a bell was enough to make the dog salivate. Since the energies of Reiki initiation are transcendental in nature (and of course, humans learn faster than dogs), this process works more quickly. During initiation, the energy represented by the symbol comes down and attaches itself to the symbol. Therefore, the moment the student thinks of the symbol, the energy represented by the symbol will automatically begin to flow.

Mrs. Takata did not allow her students to make copies of the symbols; she had them memorize them. Because some did not have a perfect memory, many changes naturally occurred as the symbols were passed from teacher to student. For this reason, although it is observed that the symbols used by some Reiki teachers do not exactly resemble the symbols used by Dr. Usui, these symbols work in the same way. Therefore, the most correct method for students is to use the symbols given to them by their Reiki Masters during initiation. Although there are differences from the outside, every student’s symbol will work. The power of the symbols comes not from their appearance, but from the energy attached to them during initiation. Nevertheless, many students want to know what Dr. Usui’s symbols actually looked like.

Activating the Symbols

There are many ways to activate Reiki symbols. You can draw these symbols in front of yourself or in the air, as well as next to or on top of the patient. Symbols can be drawn with your finger, or they can be drawn by imagining a beam of light coming out of your palm chakra and moving your hand. You can also activate the symbols by thinking of their names or by saying their names out loud in environments where people initiated into Reiki II or higher levels are present. You can visualize the symbol in your mind’s eye or imagine yourself drawing it. Any of these methods will activate the Reiki symbols. What is important here is your intention. It will be sufficient to intend to activate the symbol.

The meaning of the Power symbol’s name is “Put All the Power of the Universe Here.” The power symbol is used to increase the power of Reiki or to focus Reiki on a specific area. Whenever you want to increase the power of the Reiki healing you are giving, visualizing the symbol or thinking of its name will strengthen the Reiki. At the same time, it can be used to seal around the patient to prevent the treatment energies from leaking out. This can physically appear as a sphere of golden light surrounding the patient. While the power symbol can be used at any time during healing, it is used at the beginning to increase power and at the final stage to seal the healing energies. You can also use the power symbol to clear negative psychic energies in the room, decorate the room with light, and make it a sacred space. It can also be used to protect yourself, your loved ones, your car, your house, or anything valuable to you. Since Reiki works on all levels, the protection it provides will also be on all levels and will provide protection not only against physical harm but also against verbal-emotional or psychic attacks. You can also use the power symbol to bless others. Thinking of the name of the power symbol while shaking someone’s hand will bless that person.

The name of the second symbol means “God and Humanity Become One.” The symbol can be used in mental and emotional healing. It brings peace and harmony by balancing the left and right halves of the brain. It is especially useful in healing relationship problems. It can be used for all types of mental/emotional problems such as nervousness, fear, depression, anger, and feeling bad. This symbol can be used for problems related to smoking addiction or excessive weight. It gives positive results in improving memory and especially in cases such as forgetting someone’s name or losing car keys. It can also be used in the development of affirmations that deeply affect the subconscious mind, and during studying and learning.

The Transformation symbol can be used to change or eliminate unwanted behaviors. Write your name along with the unwanted behavior and the transformation symbol on a piece of paper. Then hold the paper between your two hands and give Reiki. In this way, you will start to send Reiki to the parts of your mind and emotions related to your unwanted behavior and heal them.

The name of the third symbol means “May the Higher Self in Me and You Be One to Enhance Harmony and Peace.” It works according to the principle that the same Higher Self consciousness exists within all of us. This symbol is used to send Reiki to those at a distance. You can send Reiki to people in any part of a room, city, even a country, or the world. Distance is not an obstacle when using this symbol. Sometimes, a picture of the person being sent Reiki is used to establish a connection with the symbol.

The Distance symbol can also be used to build a bridge with time. In this way, you can send Reiki to the future. For example, if you know the date of an important activity that will take place in the future, you can send Reiki to that date to help with your appointment. When used in this way, Reiki energy is stored like a battery. When the time comes, the energy is released, surrounds you, and helps you. People use this technique before job interviews, exams, surgeries, or other important events. You can also send Reiki to the past with this symbol. If you have a traumatic experience from the past for which you know the approximate date, you can heal this trauma by sending Reiki to the past with this symbol. A picture from that period will help you achieve this. However, if you do not know the date or do not have a picture, you can also reach a result by defining the problem and asking Reiki to go to the cause that created the problem and heal it. This technique can also be used to heal problems belonging to your past lives (incarnations).

The Relationship of Reiki with Aura and Chakra

In addition to the physical body, every being has an energy body (aura) that surrounds it. Universal life energy flows into the physical body through energy centers called “chakras,” passing through this invisible energy field that surrounds the physical body. It then spreads to the physical body and back to the energy bodies through meridians (energy pathways/channels).

The energy flow in these energy bodies must be smooth and balanced for a person to be physically and spiritually healthy. For this purpose, the chakras—which act as a bridge between the physical and energy bodies and can be defined as the entry and exit gates of life energy—must be in balance and exchange energy properly.

As Reiki energy flows to the person, it disperses low-frequency energies and imbalances in both the energy and physical bodies, raising the frequency in that area. Thus, by regulating the flow of life force energy, it ensures a healthy and natural flow.

The Aura

The light-energy body that surrounds and integrates with the physical body of every living creature, housing and radiating its own characteristics, is called the “aura.” The aura can also be described as an intangible, invisible energy shield or field that reflects life energy. Non-living objects also have auras; many personal items become charged with their owner’s energy and radiate it. Precious stones and crystals also have auras and are used in Reiki practice.

The aura is where all emotions, thoughts, memories, and behavior patterns reside; it reflects our personality and lifestyle. Emotions and thoughts also travel between people through these human energy fields. Our energy system encounters and becomes charged with external factors every day. If we are not aware of how these factors affect us, we unintentionally weaken our own energy system. The secret to protecting and balancing our energy lies in our aura. With a strong aura, we reflect low-frequency energies and protect ourselves from the pressure of unwanted energies. The simplest and most effective way to strengthen and balance the aura is to apply Reiki to yourself regularly.

There are commonly four known energy bodies:

  • Etheric Body: Reaches every cell to nourish them with energy, surrounding the physical body like a protective shell and shielding it from disease. It reflects the person’s state of health.
  • Emotional Body (Astral): Contains all positive and negative emotions. The energy vibrations of emotions stored subconsciously form the messages a person sends to their environment.
  • Mental Body: Influential on our way of thinking and the effect of habitual thoughts on our lives.
  • Spiritual Body: Vibrates at a very high frequency and is the highest dimension of everything containing love.

The reality of the aura was scientifically proven in the 1940s by Semyon Kirlian through high-frequency photography (Kirlian Photography).

Chakra

Chakras are energy centers on the body through which life energy flows. In Sanskrit, Chakra means “moving wheel” or “energy vortex.” They act as funnels that transfer energy from the universe and the earth into the body and radiate it back out. They correspond to various points along the spinal canal, from the coccyx to the crown of the head.

The Seven Main Chakras:

  1. Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine. Color: Flame red. Gland: Adrenals. Affects bones, teeth, legs, elimination system, and kidneys. It is the center of survival instincts and self-acceptance. It connects the person to the earth and the material world.
  2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Located between the groin and the navel. Color: Orange. Glands: Testes/Ovaries. Affects reproductive organs, bladder, and the lymphatic system. It influences creativity and relationships.
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Located slightly above the navel. Color: Bright yellow. Gland: Pancreas. Affects the digestive system, liver, and gall bladder. It focuses on personal power and self-confidence.
  4. Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located at the level of the heart. Color: Green (healing) with pink (love). Gland: Thymus. Affects the heart, lungs, circulatory system, and immune system. It is the center of love, compassion, and forgiveness.
  5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located at the throat. Color: Light blue. Glands: Thyroid and Parathyroid. Affects the throat, jaw, ears, and vocal cords. It is the center of expression, communication, and will.
  6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Located in the middle of the forehead. Color: Indigo/Dark blue. Gland: Pituitary. Affects the face, eyes, brain, and central nervous system. It is the center of intuition, memory, and wisdom.
  7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Located at the top of the head. Color: Violet (with gold-white). Gland: Pineal. Affects the brain and the entire skeletal/nervous system. It connects us to universal life force and our spiritual nature.

It is not entirely correct to say chakras are “open or closed”; the important thing is that the energy in the chakras is in balance. Awareness is created by unconditionally accepting oneself as they are. This requires honesty—to see our strengths and weaknesses—and courage—to face them.

Applying Reiki to Others

Before starting to apply Reiki to others, it is useful to remember a few points to consider. It should not be forgotten that Reiki is not a healing practice that works through imposition. That is, do not start a Reiki session without the person’s consent. The approach “It would be good for you” is unfortunately present in our tradition and is a situation that can lead to the mistake that we can appreciate a person’s well-being better than themselves. Respecting the free will, decisions, and choices of individuals is essential in Reiki.

Reiki is a healing to be shared willingly, with permission, and with pleasure. And again, it should not be forgotten that Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment but a supportive practice that works alongside the medical process and supports the healing of ailments. With this awareness, the work should be started with the permission of the person to be treated. It should be reminded that energy can be felt in different ways during the application and there may be some emotional reactions. Hands must be washed at the beginning and end of the work; metal jewelry, watches, mobile phones, etc., accessories and items should be removed. Comfortable clothes and a comfortable environment are preferred.

Some Headings to Consider in an Ideal Reiki Practice:

  • Remind the receiver not to cross their arms or legs.
  • In burns, muscle tears, and migraines, hold your hands slightly away, not directly on the body. Give the energy to the person’s aura.
  • In heart patients, do not place your hands directly on the heart.
  • In diabetic patients, work by knowing the insulin level; do not give Reiki if hypoglycemia (sugar value falling below normal values) is the case.
  • Do not use Reiki for diagnostic purposes. Do not move away from the essence of Reiki by stating the ailments you feel in the body with definite diagnoses and making treatment plans.
  • Keep your ego out of your work. The goal here is not how talented you are. Remember that you are a channel for Universal Life Energy.
  • Before applying it to someone else, say the phrase “I am a channel for Reiki” with your inner voice.
  • Before starting the application, smooth the receiver’s aura. This is an application in the form of scanning the aura with soft movements starting from over the receiver’s head down to under the feet, from about 10 cm above the body.

REIKI APPLICATION TO OTHERS (BASIC POSITIONS):

  • EYES: Eye problems, cataracts and glaucoma, nasal cavities, common cold, sinuses, allergies, asthma, pituitary, pineal gland, stress, headaches.
  • TEMPLES: Stress, balancing the right-left lobes of the brain (right brain = intuition, aesthetics, wisdom and left brain = rational mind, mathematics), earaches, eye nerves, colds, high fever.
  • EARS: Along with ears, acupuncture points and the heart, intestines, kidneys, lungs, stomach, liver, gall bladder. Colds and flu, hearing problems, buzzing and ringing in the ears, balance disorders.
  • BACK OF THE HEAD: Eyes, vision, headaches, nosebleeds, digestive problems, fear, shock, anxiety. It calms and organizes thoughts.
  • TOP OF THE HEAD (DIAGONALLY): Headaches, eye problems, fever, digestive problems, stress, multiple sclerosis.
  • V-HOLD ON THE NECK: Speech problems, bronchitis, flu, colds, lack of communication, inability to express oneself, overweight or underweight, heart palpitations, high or low blood pressure, anger, frustration.
  • BELOW AND ABOVE THE NAVEL (2nd AND 3rd CHAKRAS): Stomach, intestines, digestion, lymphs, shock emotions, depression, sugar, fat metabolism.
  • RIGHT SIDE (LIVER SIDE): Liver, gall bladder, jaundice, gallstones, toxin removal, anger, depression, suppressed chronic complaints, leukemia, AIDS, cancer, immune system, infections.

  • HEART-THYMUS HOLD: Heart, thymus gland, immune system, lung, heart diseases, bronchitis, angina, lymphs, emotions, stress.

Self-Reiki Application

Self-Reiki application, which will provide a wide range of benefits from the removal of toxins in our body to the healing of many systemic diseases, and from the healing of mental patterns to a comfortable sleep, also makes a very important element possible, such as the person being able to spare time for themselves.

FIRST DEGREE REIKI APPLICATION TECHNIQUE

The Reiki application technique does not differ between degrees in terms of basic applications. Advanced degrees only include the techniques we add after we become ready with the harmony provided by the basic application to our soul and body integrity, and it both makes the Reiki application very easy and opens new horizons for us by strengthening it.

Use of Hands: Reiki is a technique we apply through our hands. Both hands are used together and placed on specific parts of the body, staying in each position for 3-5 minutes. A normal Reiki session lasts about 60 minutes. However, most of the time, instead of this application covering all parts of the body, a shortened application targeting the basic chakras and lasting about 30-40 minutes is performed. It is important to comply with the minimum durations.

The Position of the Hands: Our hands are held with fingers together during the session, except for some positions. They are placed comfortably without being pressed against the body. We should take a position, sitting or lying down, where we will not feel uncomfortable and our arms and hands will not get tired.

  • Forehead, eyes, and over the cheeks (6th Chakra): Effective in eye problems, cataracts and glaucoma, nasal cavities, forehead cavity, common cold, allergies, asthma, brain nerves, pituitary gland problems.
  • Temples: There are two minor chakras right in front of your ears. Place your hands on these chakras so that they are on your temples. Right and left brain balancing occurs with this position. It is very relaxing and affects the whole body.
  • Ears: Many other organs are treated along with the ears. Effective in colds and flu, hard of hearing, buzzing and ringing in the ears, balance disorders.
  • Two sides of the head (7th Chakra): Place your hands on the right and left sides of your head, leaving your crown chakra open. This position is for headaches, eye problems, stress, digestive problems, emotional disorders, and multiple sclerosis.
  • Back of the head: This position is for headaches, eye problems, fever, sinuses, digestive disorders, fears, phobias, shock situations, and depression.
  • Sides and front of the neck (5th Chakra): For thyroid gland, bronchitis, flu, colds, nervousness, breathing, self-expression, and communication.
  • Heart Chakra (4th Chakra): Place your hands on the collarbone. Effective on bronchi, stress, emotions, asthma, fear, cough. Heart, thymus, lungs, defense system, circulatory system, lymphs, deafness, and depressions. It increases love, the power to love, and compassion.
  • Solar Plexus (3rd Chakra): Place your hands at the end of the ribs, just below the chest. Effective on liver, gall bladder, part of the stomach, pancreas, spleen, jaundice, gallstones, high and low sugar, anemia, leukemia, defense system, diabetes, flu, infections, toxin removal, sadness, anger, depression.
  • Sacral Chakra (2nd Chakra): Place your hands over your navel. Effective on stomach, intestines, liver, spleen, digestive system, lymphs, shock, emotions, depressions.
  • Root Chakra (1st Chakra): Reproductive organs, intestines, ovaries, bladder, urinary tract, circulation, digestion, right cecum, breast tumors, spasms, menopause complaints, prostate, back pains, ovary/uterus/bladder tumors.
  • Legs and Knees: For all leg problems, joint and rheumatic pains, calcification, meniscus, joint inflammation, and varicose veins.
  • Feet: For foot problems, fatigue, varicose veins, rheumatic pains, and joint ailments.
  • Back Area (4th Chakra): Effective against stress. It provides relaxation and is effective in spine and neck problems.
  • Adrenaline Area (3rd Chakra): You can place your hands in this area in cases of panic or severe pain. It is also used in heart attacks and shock situations as it is the area where adrenaline is secreted.
  • Waist Area (2nd Chakra): Effective in lower back pains.
  • Root Chakra (1st Chakra): Also in hemorrhoid and sciatic pains.

Feeling Reiki

In the beginning, many people may not feel Reiki. As you practice Reiki, your ability to feel the energy develops and strengthens. Since energy is an abstract concept, people generally want to see what they are doing with their eyes. Questions like “I gave Reiki, but is it happening because I believe it?”, “I gave Reiki but felt nothing, will it work?” may arise. Whether you believe in Reiki or not, it performs the healing to the same extent. This is a conscious energy and is a safe and strong start to natural healing. Do not rush or force yourself to feel Reiki. When you give Reiki, it flows whether you feel it or not. However, if you say “I want to feel the energy,” do not touch that area while giving Reiki to any part of your body; give Reiki by holding your hand 5 cm away. With this practice, you will definitely feel something.

Reiki Master Level

Becoming a Reiki Master and starting to teach the system is an important step and responsibility. I believe that students who want to open up to this path must practice Reiki regularly every day for their own cleansing and healing. They must have sufficient experience in all previous levels and be connected to healing with a truly strong emotion and perseverance. They should gain experience in the face of difficult cases or unexpected reactions. Reiki Master/Teacher training prepares the Reiki therapist to initiate others into all Reiki degrees and provides guidance on classroom management, creating written materials, teaching the lesson, and teacher-student relationships.

The third stage of Reiki training is the stage of becoming a master. At this stage, first, the student is taught the master symbol. Initiation is applied and the usage of the master symbol is taught. This stage can be called the advanced level. Then, the ability to be a master is given. The master symbol is for opening up to higher energies and strengthening this opening ability. It allows one to be a wider channel for high energies. This symbol is a power with very strong vibration. During the initiation process, one is channeled to higher energies. It is used in meditation and personal development. The focus of this symbol is the healing of the soul.

Becoming a Reiki master requires long-term study. According to the traditional Usui system’s way of thinking, the third stage is given to those who will dedicate their lives to Reiki. A few years are expected to pass between the second and third stage trainings. Being a Reiki master will impose a serious responsibility on the student’s life. Simply initiating is not enough to be a Reiki master. The responsibility of the Reiki master to their students and to Reiki is to teach them to do the correct practice in their lives.

Reiki Level 2 (Oku Den – Deep Knowledge)

Reiki 2nd Degree is the second level of Reiki initiation. With the 2nd Degree attunement, the practitioner’s healing abilities develop. The power and focus of Reiki energy increase. There is the possibility to heal non-physical problems. Healing work can be done by eliminating time-space factors. The most important aspect of Reiki 2 is the use of symbols from ancient times.

After completing the first degree and actively using Reiki in your life, you can deepen your connection to Reiki and your spiritual development by attending the Reiki second-degree seminar. All your deep-rooted emotional and mental patterns undergo change. Everything in your life that needs healing finds healing. The 2nd degree brings a psychic opening as well. Intuition and healing ability develop. Sacred symbols are taught, and the use of these symbols requires responsibility. You apply distant healing without being bound by time and space.

We believe that a healthy method is to leave a period of at least three weeks between the two degrees. A person who has received 2nd-degree training and opening has strengthened intuitions, and their healing power increases many times over thanks to the key symbols and their mantras.

Reiki Level 1

The first-degree attunement is the person being equipped with Reiki energy. This is an equipment that will last forever. At this stage, the person will feel the flow of energy and learn to transfer the energy to themselves and others. The attunement, known among the public as “giving hand” (el verme), is for a master to help open the energy channels by transferring energy to the student.

The important thing for flowing Reiki energy is INTENTION. The person should leave their hands to the guidance of Reiki. The receiver will take as much as they need. The healer should be completely non-judgmental and non-reactive. At the end of the seminar, you will have received the ‘gift of healing hands.’ Every person treats themselves! You have the necessary ‘equipment’ for this.

The healer’s role is only to direct the energy. No healing takes place without the receiver’s consent and participation. Reiki is entirely positive; under no circumstances does it harm any living being. The first thing a healer should know is how to hold their hands. Both hands are always used with palms facing down.

Initiation (Attunement)

Initiation is a sign of transition from one state of consciousness or existence to another. Etymologically, it is of Latin origin. Its spiritual definition can be explained as “the regular training of an individual, based on exams and practices, under the control of a master who can receive and transmit spiritual influence for their spiritual development.”

Reiki is not taught like other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during the initiation process. This process opens the crown, heart, 3rd eye, and palm chakras and establishes a special connection between the student and the source of Reiki.

Reiki initiation is a powerful spiritual experience. Rei or God Consciousness guides this process and makes some adjustments during the process depending on the needs of each student. Reiki Guides also participate in the initiation. Many people say they have experienced mystical experiences regarding personal messages, purifications, images, and their past lives.

Initiation also increases spiritual sensitivity. Reiki initiations are like tuning a radio to the channel you want. Once you receive a Reiki initiation, Reiki will remind you throughout your life. It does not disappear over time and you never lose it. The initiation initiates a cleansing process that affects the physical body, mind, and emotions. Toxins stored in the body are thrown out along with no longer necessary emotions and thought patterns.

From a psychological perspective, “transfer” (transference) plays an important role. Transference can be defined as the process of becoming aware of our unresolved internal conflicts. In this context, transference plays a vital role in the initiation process, but here the initiator acts as a cinema screen for the transfers. This is one of the reasons why initiation is an extremely important tool that spurs both personal and spiritual development.

Benefits Provided by Reiki

  • Deep relaxation and peace.
  • Dissolving energy blockages (seeds of disease and obstructions).
  • Purifying the body from toxins.
  • Increasing the individual’s bio-energy capacity and raising energy levels.
  • Ensuring the spiritual evolution of the individual to higher levels by transforming stereotyped thought systems.
  • Balancing the Body-Soul-Self triad.

Reiki helps soothe pain—whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. It strengthens the effects of medical treatment when used together. The underlying principle of Reiki is that it cannot cause harm and cannot be used for any harmful purpose. It enhances the body’s natural self-healing ability, increases vitality, and works on the spiritual essence and the aura. Reiki energy possesses an inner intelligence; it goes wherever it is needed in the body and aura.

How Does Reiki Energy Work?

Reiki flows when needed, even without your conscious intention. Only a light intention and willingness are sufficient; it does not require mental tension or intense willpower. You do not force the energy; you simply allow it to flow like water through a hose.

Energy generally enters through the Crown Chakra, flows down the arms to the hands, and from there to wherever it is needed or directed. It is important to let the energy work for the highest good of the receiver. If you learn to be aware of and trust the energy, your personal intuition will guide you.

When there is an excessive amount of energy blockage in an area or a high buildup of negative energy due to stress and emotional trauma, illness manifests. Reiki can gently remove these blocks. Heat radiating from our hands and the patient’s aura warns us about certain types of illnesses. Cold sensations indicate parts of the body that are blocked and in need of energy.

The Chakras

“Chakra” means “wheel” in Sanskrit. There are seven basic energy centers in our body located on or very near the hormonal glands and major nerve networks. They are known in ancient texts as the “Seven Seals” or “Seven Sacred Glands.”

Each chakra is connected to a gland in the hormonal system that controls various functions of our being. Depending on the state of these glands, we may become distressed, angry, or happy and peaceful. Being ill is not a crime; it is a part of the life experience. You can play an active and positive role in healing your mind, body, and soul.

1. CHAKRA (Root Chakra – Muladhara)

  • COLOR: Red
  • ABILITY: Acceptance
  • ELEMENT: Earth
  • SHADOW EMOTION(S): Anger, resentment, harshness
  • ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDENCES: Aries/Mars (Vitality), Taurus (Stability), Capricorn/Saturn (Structure).
  • AFFIRMATION: “I feel physically.”

Located at the base of the spine, this is the home of our habits and deep instincts. It provides “presence” and vitality. When blocked, the person loses the will to exist in the physical world and feels “sick.”

Acceptance is the opposite of judgment. If we do not feel rooted and comfortable in our own bodies, we fill with anger. To be accepting, first emulate it, then you will truly start to do it. Take action; feeling and healing will follow. Acceptance is the fundamental teaching of almost every religion in the world. If you learn not to criticize yourself, you reach true health.

Empathy vs. Sympathy: Sympathy says “I feel like you,” while empathy says “I know how you feel.” Empathy allows for a healthy separation. If you find yourself reacting to someone’s behavior, imagine them as a 7-year-old child. It becomes easier to feel compassion.

2. CHAKRA (Sacral Chakra – Svadhisthana)

  • COLOR: Orange
  • ABILITY: Creativity
  • ELEMENT: Water
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Over-extremism, Guilt
  • ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDENCES: Cancer/Moon (Emotional richness), Libra/Venus (Relationships/Creativity), Scorpio/Pluto (Transformation of ego).
  • AFFIRMATION: “I feel emotionally.”

This chakra is related to desire, passion, duality, movement, change, and creativity. When vibrations are positive, life is colorful and meaningful. When blocked, life feels joyless and tiring.

Creativity is everyone’s birthright. Living a creative life requires overcoming the fear of making mistakes. Physical exercises are a good way to develop the 2nd chakra. Disorders here manifest as kidney/bladder issues, hormonal imbalances, or fertility problems.

Guilt and Money: The 2nd chakra is the home of money and sexuality. A practical way to remind yourself to let money flow naturally into your life is to remember to drink plenty of water. If you feel fear or guilt regarding money, ensure you are drinking enough water. Guilt should be a warning; if not used as a warning, it withers our creativity.

3. CHAKRA (Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura)

Meaning “City of Jewels,” this chakra acts as a bridge between the heart and sexuality. It is the driving force behind our imagination and conceptualization. Here, we find the power of determination to act on our beliefs.

  • COLOR: Yellow
  • ABILITY: Determination
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Anger, greed, ambition
  • ELEMENT: Fire
  • AURIC LEVEL: Mental Level (Thinking)
  • AFFIRMATION: “I think.”
  • ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDENCES: Leo/Sun (Power/Status), Sagittarius/Jupiter (Wisdom/Growth), Virgo/Mercury (Analysis/Service), Mars (Action/Will).

Function: Governing the digestive system, liver, and adrenal glands, it provides vitality. It is the center for cleansing habits; the “fire at the navel” can be used to burn away old patterns.

Tip: If you want to quit smoking or start a diet, stimulate this chakra.

Breathing: Transition from chest breathing to abdominal (belly) breathing. The depth of your breath determines your soul’s influence on others.

Exercise: Hold a heavy book against your navel. As you inhale, push the book forward with your belly. As you exhale, pull it back toward your spine.

4. CHAKRA (Heart Chakra – Anahata)

The heart transforms worldly energies into spiritual ones and vice versa. It is the most powerful chakra in the body, where “Heaven and Earth” meet.

  • COLOR: Green (Healing), Pink (Love/Compassion)
  • ABILITY: Compassion, affection, love
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Fear, dependency
  • ELEMENT: Air
  • AURIC LEVEL: Astral Level (Self-You feelings)
  • AFFIRMATION: “I love humanity.”
  • ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDENCES: Leo/Sun (Warmth), Libra/Venus (Harmony), Saturn (Transcending the individual ego).

Function: This center allows the transformation of “I” into “WE.” Love is the opposite of fear. Gratitude is the first step toward overcoming fear. Spiritual Insight: The heart is the center where the Divine exists. If your heart is not open to others, it cannot be open to you.

Health: Suppressed fear and dependency can manifest as heart disease, lung issues, or breast cancer.

Exercise: When feeling anxious, stick your tongue out and loosen your jaw. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Think of something you are grateful for.

5. CHAKRA (Throat Chakra – Vishuddha)

Located at the throat, this chakra is where we find our “true voice.” it is related to honesty, communication, and self-expression.

  • COLOR: Blue
  • ABILITY: Truthfulness / Integrity
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Denial, harshness, lying
  • ELEMENT: Ether (Celestial energy)
  • AURIC LEVEL: Etheric Template Level (Higher Will)
  • AFFIRMATION: “I will do.”
  • ASTROLOGICAL CORRESPONDENCES: Gemini/Mercury (Communication), Mars (Active expression), Aquarius/Uranus (Divine inspiration/Independence).

Function: Words are power. The universe is a magnetic field; positive words attract love, negative words attract hate. You are what you say. Insight: Whenever you are told to be quiet, a part of your throat chakra closes. Healing comes through finding your own voice and speaking your truth.

Shadow of the Back Center: The back of the neck is related to professional success. If one feels unsuccessful but hides it with excessive pride, this center becomes blocked. Fear of failure prevents action.

The “Dog Breath” Exercise (Cleansing Toxins):

  1. Sit with your mouth open, stick your tongue out as far as possible.
  2. Breathe rapidly like a dog, using the power of your diaphragm/navel.
  3. Do this for 3 minutes. It cleanses toxins from the throat and navel, clears old lies/fears, and increases intuition.
  1. CHAKRA (Third Eye Chakra – Ajna)

The “Ajna” or Brow Chakra is related to self-awareness, inner vision, happiness, joy, and the power of the mind. It is the seat of the pituitary gland, which secretes serotonin. Focusing on this point is one of the easiest ways to calm oneself and collect attention.

  • COLOR: Indigo Blue
  • ABILITY: Intuition (Physical and extra-sensory vision)
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Mental confusion, depression
  • AURIC LEVEL: Celestial Level (Higher emotions)
  • AFFIRMATION: “I love universally.”
  • GLAND: Pituitary

Perception vs. Visualization: Perception means receiving images that already exist. Visualization, however, is the active process of creation. By holding a clear image in your mind and giving it energy, you eventually give it form and substance in your life. Insight: Living without intuition is like driving a car without side or rearview mirrors; you can only see what is directly in front of you. Yoga and meditation are scientifically proven to increase serotonin and beta-endorphins, sharpening this “sixth sense.”

7. CHAKRA (Crown Chakra – Sahasrara)

The Crown Chakra governs the entire system, including the nervous, skeletal, and circulatory systems. It is our spiritual center and the starting point for all chakra energies.

  • COLOR: Violet (The color of nobility), Magenta, White
  • ABILITY: Being Unlimitless / Boundlessness
  • SHADOW EMOTIONS: Pain, suffering, grief
  • AURIC LEVEL: Etheric Template (Higher concepts)
  • AFFIRMATION: “I know, I AM.”
  • GLAND: Pineal (Associated with melatonin and anti-aging)

Function: This is where our personal energy field becomes one with the universe. When the 7th chakra opens, blockages in the other six chakras dissolve, and they begin to vibrate at their highest frequencies. It is the “Tenth Gate” where one transcends time, space, and causality. Exercise for Boundlessness: Raise your hands above your head, palms together, thumbs crossed. Close your eyes and look upward—not just to the third eye, but to the very top of your head. Breathe deeply for 3–7 minutes.

Ways to Cleanse and Vitalize the Chakras

1. Nature Therapy

Nature offers endless opportunities to harmonize the chakras. Landscapes and flowers correspond to the vibrations of the lower three chakras, while the changing sky enhances the functions of the upper three. Experience nature with inner peace and generosity.

2. Sound Therapy & Mantras

Life is fundamentally composed of sound. Each chakra responds to specific “Seed Mantras”:

  • LAM: 1st Chakra | VAM: 2nd Chakra | RAM: 3rd Chakra | YAM: 4th Chakra | HAM: 5th Chakra | KSAM: 6th Chakra | OM: 7th Chakra.

3. Color Therapy

Colors are “visible sounds.”

  • Use Red to activate the 1st chakra (vitality).
  • Use Orange for the 2nd chakra (sensuality and joy).
  • Use Soft Pink or Green for the Heart chakra.

4. Gemstone Therapy

Gemstones carry the energetic potential of millions of years.

  • Clear Quartz (Rock Crystal): Contains the potential of all 7 colors and harmonizes the entire system.
  • Note: Always cleanse your stones in running water or sea salt before use, and charge them in sunlight.

5. Aroma Therapy

Aromas have a direct path to our emotions.

  • Rosemary: Stimulating for the Root chakra.
  • Lavender: Calming for the Third Eye.
  • Sweet Flower Oils: Harmonizing for the Sacral chakra.

6. Breath Techniques (Pranayama)

Prana is the universal life energy. Chakra Breathing Exercise: Lay down or sit straight. Inhale through your nose, imagining you are drawing breath directly into your Root chakra. Hold your attention there for 3–5 minutes, then move up to the next chakra until you reach the Crown.

The Etheric Body (Aura)

Einstein’s theory of relativity proved that everything is energy. Our world is manifested from oceans of energy. The Etheric Body is the energy structure that receives and radiates these impulses. It acts as a bridge between our physical form and our mental/emotional impulses. Every human’s etheric body is a part of the planet’s etheric structure, and thus, a part of the Divine Life.

The Fundamental Rules of Reiki

1. Reiki is Entirely About You

Reiki is not primarily about treating others; it is a personal practice for self-healing and spiritual development. In Mikao Usui’s time, the focus was on “attaining personal perfection.” By working on yourself regularly, you become a better channel for energy and more effective in your treatments for others.

2. Base Your Practice on the Principles

The Five Reiki Principles (Gokai) are the heart of the system. They are not just instructions to be read once, but a continuous source of guidance. Reflect on how each principle affects your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Living by these principles creates a real difference in your life and the lives of those around you.

3. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is hidden within the principles. It is a form of meditation you can practice while walking, washing dishes, or drinking tea. By being fully present in the moment—without judgment—you reach a state where anger and worry cannot exist. Being in the “Now” brings humility, honesty, and compassion.

4. Work on Yourself Every Day

Consistency is key. The principles say “Just for today.” You don’t need hours; even 10 minutes is enough. If you don’t have 10 minutes, wake up 10 minutes earlier. Don’t worry about tomorrow; just focus on today.

5. Dedication is the Key

To get the best results, Reiki deserves a place in your daily routine, just like brushing your teeth. When you make self-treatment a habit, you will find that you actually miss it on the days you skip. Cumulative benefits come through steady perseverance.

6. Do Not Strain Yourself

Reiki should be enjoyed in a gentle and light-hearted manner—not with clenched fists or a furrowed brow. You cannot “force” the energy. Reiki is like a flow of water, and we are like a rough stone in that stream. The stone becomes smooth over time, naturally, through the constant, gentle flow. The fastest progress happens when you stop trying and just “be.”

7. You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

Don’t beat yourself up for not being perfect. If your mind wanders during self-treatment, let it be. Do not use your “willpower” to force your mind to be empty; that only creates more thoughts. Simply acknowledge the thoughts and gently bring your attention back to the energy. You are human, and that is okay.

8. Do Not Try to Solve the “Why”

Avoid over-analyzing why you see certain colors or feel specific sensations. If you analyze and question everything, your mind will interfere with the flow. Stop thinking! Just be. Join with the energy, feel the flow, and enjoy the process. Reiki works on many levels, most of which we cannot comprehend mentally.

9. Trust Your Intuition

Do not doubt what you feel. If you feel a “hot spot” or are drawn to a specific area of the body, follow that impulse. You are naturally intuitive. Stop second-guessing yourself; stay still and accept what comes to you. It doesn’t have to “make sense” to be effective.

10. Ignore Absurd Rules and Limitations

Reiki is safe, simple, and adaptable. You do not need man-made rules, specific word sets, or rigid hand positions to make it work. Do not avoid treating people with various medical conditions out of fear; Reiki adapts to every situation. There is no “single way” to use Reiki. Keep it simple.

The Soul of Reiki: Philosophy and Origins

Reiki is the Energy of Love Reiki flows through the heart. It is not a power used to conquer or control, but the deep, calm strength of unconditional love. It flows in the exact intensity that the recipient can handle at that moment, which means it is impossible to make a mistake with Reiki energy. Sometimes, what we see as a “setback” or an illness is actually a “karmic lesson” or a process of “becoming whole” guided by our higher self. Reiki follows its own unique path; if pain must be felt for spiritual growth, Reiki supports that transformation to make it healthier and easier.

The Real Power Behind Healing It is important to remember that the physical body heals because other spiritual elements—such as collective consciousness, karmic duties, and the balance between logic and emotion—return to their essence. This is why the time it takes to heal varies from person to person based on their spiritual evolution. Regardless of the disease’s nature, Reiki flows exactly where it is needed and in the amount required.

The Pioneers: Usui, Hayashi, and Takata

Dr. Mikao Usui (The Founder) Born in 1865, Mikao Usui grew up in a Japan transitioning from a feudal society to an industrial nation. He was a seeker who studied everything from traditional Chinese medicine to Western theology and Zen Buddhism. After a 21-day fast and meditation on Mount Kurama, he experienced Satori (enlightenment) and received the Reiki healing method. He called his system “Teate” (hand-healing) and founded the “Gakkai” in 1922 to share this joy with others. He was a humble, smiling man of great strength who believed the true purpose of life was to have a peaceful mind and a healthy body.

Dr. Chujiro Hayashi A naval officer who became one of Usui’s masters, Hayashi brought a more structured, clinical approach to Reiki. He developed standardized hand positions and kept detailed records of treatments, which eventually became the “Usui Reiki Hikkei” (manual) used by many today.

Hawayo Takata (The Bridge to the West) A Japanese-immigrant born in Hawaii, Takata was healed of serious tumors and respiratory issues at Hayashi’s clinic. She became the first woman and first foreigner to reach the Master level. To make Reiki acceptable to Americans after World War II, she strategically modified the story of Usui (portraying him as a Christian theologian) and introduced fees to ensure the Western mind would value and respect the teaching. Thanks to her, Reiki spread from Hawaii to the entire world.

Welcome to Your Reiki Journey: healing #ruhisigi #soullight

The Five Principles (Gokai)

These five pillars were established to help us reach happiness in life. They are simple yet incredibly powerful. You should repeat them every morning and evening, reflecting on how they touch your daily actions:

  • Just for today, do not be angry. (Anger is a defense mechanism for our ego; let it go and find forgiveness.)
  • Just for today, do not worry. (Fear and worry create pressure in our energy system; trust in life instead.)
  • Just for today, be grateful. (Stop focusing on what you lack; thank life for the blessings you have right now.)
  • Just for today, do your work diligently. (Dedicate yourself to your tasks, not just for money, but to create value and learn your soul’s lessons.)
  • Just for today, be kind to others. (It is easy to break a heart, but hard to repair one. Choose kindness and patience for your own growth.)

Final Thought: Reiki Belongs to the Universe

There is only one Reiki, and no one can claim ownership or “copyright” over this divine gift. It belongs to the universe. Instead of conflicting over who has the “truest” method, we should unite in the spirit of healing to help our planet.

CONCLUSION: HEALING INTENTION AND CLOSING

As we complete our training, you may hold this intention in your heart to fully invite this sacred energy into your life:

“From this moment on, I choose to be a pure channel for the universal life energy. I intend for the knowledge I have received to transform into the highest good for both myself and the collective. May my heart be open to love, my mind to peace, and my hands to healing. I am light, I am love, I am healing.”
